Detail Architects were engaged to design 3 new build, 3 bed houses on a former electricity sub-station, adjacent to a working railway line.
The forms weave in and out in response to the narrow site, allowing for a design that ensures privacy for nearby residents while engendering a sense of community within the development. The proposed approach of quality over quantity, modern house types provides a quality solution to urban sprawl and housing shortages.
Until Detail’s involvement, the site had been subject to a total of 8 historic planning applications with the latest application being dismissed at Appeal.
