Detail Architects was approached to create 2 new dwellings on a former orchard site, within a Conservation Area adjacent to a historic lunatic asylum.
The site is one of two undeveloped areas remaining in the area, characterized by its open landscape character. As such, our design response is centred around maintaining this ‘openness’ of the historic grain by responding to specific site conditions to create a proposal which would positively contribute to the conservation area.
The proposals seek to create 2 new, single storey 3 bedroom dwellings that sit sensitively within the site.
The project was recently submitted to Architects’ Journal.
